Warmest New Years Wishes,
The Susan M. Hicks Memorial Fund at the University of Pittsburgh is set to make a remarkable impact for generations to come. But we still need help reaching our online goal of $20,000 by Dec. 31! We are nearly 90% of the way there, just 10 days from our deadline. Every gift makes an impact and is so appreciated!
Thank you, The Pitt News, for your spotlight on the Susan M. Hicks Memorial Fund and for helping us keep the momentum going! The amazing success of the fund to date "speaks volumes of the work Susan was doing and the tremendous respect friends and colleagues have for her work."
You are a wonderful group of 132 people who have generously donated to this fund. May I ask you to help us yet again?
Please share your favorite Susan story with a friend, family member, or colleague. If each of us can locate just one person to join this campaign and contribute $25 to $50 we will make quick progress toward our $20,000 goal.
When Susan got comfortable running 6 miles, she raised her goal to 8. When 8 became manageable, she went for 10, and then she ran the half-marathon at a personal best speed. We’re humbled and thrilled to see everyone’s generous contributions…in just a few days we hit our $10,000 target. Now, we need to do what Susan would have done: boldly increase our goal and strive for more! We’ve doubled our goal to $20,000 by December 31, 2015.
Please continue to support this effort! Spread the word to friends or colleagues we haven’t yet reached, and to any and all who have benefited from study abroad programs and want to help others explore the world!
A weekly visit to the local food markets to try out burgeoning language skills and regional cuisine!
A local mobile phone plan, public transportation passes, meetings at a coffee shop, gifts for hosts, a sweater to wear in the archives...these are the practical things required to meet, talk, and engage with local resources.
All work and no play? No way! This extra pocket money for a train ticket to a nearby town and room in the student hostel ensures more discovery, more friends, and more adventure!
A donation at this level will allow a student to cover all fees for her first passport and necessary visas.
