Who Are We?
Pitt NSBE is a student-led organization with a focus on providing resources and opportunities to black engineering students in the Swanson School of Engineering. Services for our members include networking opportunities, post-graduation planning resources, tutoring, social events, career prep resources, and other supportive programming.
We also serve the Pittsburgh community and the engineers of tomorrow through our outreach initiatives. Our Pre-Collegiate Initiative is geared towards empowering K-12 students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in engineering. Our TORCH initiative is focused on organizing opportunities for our members to serve the local Pittsburgh community.
Our Project
Our organization is looking to bring about 30 members to this year’s NSBE Annual Convention in Detroit, Michigan. This will require funds for lodging for our members for four nights as well as round-trip travel to Detroit.
- Hotel Costs (8 rooms, 4 nights, $169/night): $5,408
- Charter Bus Rental (estimate based on previous years): $3,700
- Total Costs: $9,108
- Travel Deposits ($140/attendee): $-4,200
- Net Cost for Chapter: $4,908

Where will your donation go?
Donations during this campaign will be put toward hotel and travel costs for our members. Any excessed funds raised will go toward NSBE’s general operating expenses (programs, workshops, etc.).
