We have exciting news: The School of Computing and Information department of Computer Science and the Intelligent Systems Program have announced that jointly, they are contributing $10,000 to the Dr. Jan Wiebe Memorial Fund! Dr. Wiebe's legacy will continue to help students of SCI pursue their education. Thank you to all who have made gifts in Jan’s memory. Thank you for your generosity in supporting the Jan Wiebe Memorial Fund. Thanks to you, we have surpassed our initial goal of $5,000 within days of the campaign launch. While this is wonderful news, it comes as no surprise as so many wish to honor Jan’s legacy. With a couple of weeks left, we have raised our goal to $10,000. The larger that Jan’s fund is, the more awards that can be made available to SCI students. Please continue to share the campaign and help us reach our new goal!

FOUNDATIONS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: Help support Dr. Wiebe’s teaching spirit to be continued in the Pitt School of Computing and Information so that students create their own legacy.
MACHINE LEARNING: Help students have an opportunity work on small team-based projects that provide them with real-world consulting experience. Small teams work together under faculty supervision to produce real deliverables for local stakeholders.
INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING: Provide funds to promising students who run into unanticipated financial difficulties that can prevent them from finishing their education and reaching their professional goals.
ADVANCED TOPICS IN NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING: Help students succeed in an interdisciplinary environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, scientists and scholars conduct cutting-edge research that leads to innovations and new ways of thinking that make a meaningful impact on society.
