Who We Are:

Welcome to the EngagePitt fundraising page for the Women’s Club Water Polo team!

We are a fiercely dedicated group of undergraduate and graduate athletes who spend just as much time with each other outside of the pool as we do in. The team has reached new heights in the past years; it received the Pitt Club Sports Team of the Year award in 2015, won its first bid to Nationals and ranked 10th in the nation in 2016, and hosted the national competition in Spring 2017 on Pitt’s campus. We are led by Coach Jim Staresinic, who just finished his first season with the team and can’t wait to get back on the Trees’ pool deck next semester. Along with our wonderful coach, we have an amazing support system in our families and fans, who come out to cheer for us at our games and help us fuel for the fight with delicious snacks in between games.

This past season was focused on getting our new players experience in the water and building strong bonds with each other. As a result, our communication and teamwork improved drastically over the course of the year, and we took home second place in the Mid-Atlantic Division’s championship game! The future is bright for this team of amazing girls. 

Our Project:

There is already a lot of excitement and anticipation for next season, so to set the team up for success in 2020, we are holding this crowdfunding campaign. Should we reach our fundraising goal, the money will primarily contribute to the following things:

• Transportation to tournaments
  • Due to the nature of our competition season, we travel to 4-5 tournaments each year. Expenses associated with traveling to our tournaments include:
    • Transportation to and from tournament locations up to 5 hours away for 15-20 people
    • Two nights in a hotel for 15-20 people, per tournament
• Pitt color and logo change
  • The team will also need to transition their uniforms to new blue and gold colors and would like to gather donations in order to fund new water polo caps, as well as offset the cost of ordering new suits for the returning players.
• Coach’s gift
  • At the end of each season, the team likes to give our coach a small gift to thank them for offering their time and energy. 

Should we surpass our fundraising goal, any extra money will go toward general operating costs for future seasons.

How donating through EngagePitt works: Every donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law (you will receive a receipt), and 100% of the proceeds go directly to Pitt polo. You can donate using one of the pre-determined levels, or choose your own amount.
