Thank You!

December 09, 2019

Hi!

The Phi Beta Chapter of Chi Omega’s EngagePitt campaign to fund a home renovation for our in-chapter housing has officially come to a close. During our 6-week campaign, we raised a whopping $5,759! Our initial goal was $2,500. Your generosity has been extraordinary and we are truly humbled by all of your support in this endeavor. Our first EngagePitt campaign was a huge success and we cannot thank you enough.

The funds raised through this campaign will help us cover furniture, decorations, and refurbishing costs for our Chi Omega suite in Amos Hall. Our current suite houses 15 girls and is used for various chapter rituals, recruitment rounds, and most often for sisters to hang out!

Additionally, three days ago, on December 6th, our chapter officially celebrated our 100th year anniversary on Pitt’s campus. Please connect with us on Facebook at “Pitt Chi Omega” or on Instagram at “chiomega_pitt” to see how our sisters remain committed to our six founding purposes!

We hope everybody has a great holiday season, thank you again!

Love in Chi O,

2019-2020 Collegiate Sisters of the Phi Beta Chapter of Chi Omega

Sister Spotlight: Laura Poliziani

November 22, 2019

This year, Laura Poliziani, initiate of Spring ’18, is the House Manager for Chi Omega.

From Laura:

Being a Chi Omega means so much more to me after celebrating 100 years of our chapter here at Pitt (Phi Beta) this past weekend. My involvement as a leader on the Executive Board, Centennial Committee member, and living in the suite for the second year in a row has made me appreciate this organization even more since Chi Omega has become such an important part of my life.

Seeing my visions for our Centennial celebration come to life was so rewarding. I left the night feeling prouder than ever to be a Chi Omega. I am so lucky to have been able to surround myself with inspiring women from all walks of life that came together to share our 6 founding purposes that we all remain committed to. I am so thankful for the lifelong friendships that I have gained and for all of the memories that Chi Omega has given me. I hope to contribute to Chi Omega just as much as it has given to me! LICO!

Centennial Weekend!

November 15, 2019

Dear Sisters,

We are so immensely honored to announce that because of your generosity and support we have surpassed our second goal of $4,000. None of this would have been possible without you and for that, we cannot thank you enough. With a little under 2 weeks left in our campaign, we have raised our goal to $6,500. We appreciate any contribution to our cause in making our home on campus, the Chi Omega suite in Amos Hall, a warm and safe place for all Phi Beta sisters.

All of this means even more to us because today Phi Beta sisters from near and far are returning to campus to celebrate our Centennial year this weekend. Senior Katie Murphy, an initiate from Spring ’17 and former GNV, stated that “These sisters have filled my past 4 years with laughter, joy, support, and unapologetic love. If I had it my way, we’d celebrate this chapter every day!”

Even if you are not able to join this weekend, we know that you are with us in spirit.

See you soon!

Wings for Wishes/Pre-Centennial Excitement

November 12, 2019

This past weekend, Chi Omega held our 2nd Annual Wings for Wishes Philanthropy event that featured a wing taste-testing competition. Eight teams from different Greek Life organizations and club sports teams participated with Delta Chi winning big in our final round! We are extremely proud to say we raised $2700 for Make-A-Wish and are working very hard to attain our goal of granting 3 wishes this year. Along with that, our collegiate sisters have been preparing for the alumnae’s return back to Oakland this weekend to celebrate our 100th Anniversary on the University of Pittsburgh’s campus! The celebration is finally here.

In other news, we are now 4 weeks into our campaign and only have 2 weeks remaining! Currently, we have raised 70% of our new goal, $4000. The 2019-2020 Sisters of the Phi Beta Chapter of Chi Omega could not be more grateful for all of the support you have given us in this endeavor. Thank you!

November Activities/Raising our Goal!

November 07, 2019

Happy November! Our fellow Phi Betas have been staying very busy on campus and in the classroom. This weekend, the National Recruitment Team is coming down for a visit and our 2nd Annual Wings for Wishes event is on Sunday, November 10th. This year, we are hoping to grant 3 wishes! The event features a wing taste-testing competition and social wing-eating to raise money for Make-A-Wish. Next weekend, we are having our Centennial and over 70 alumnae will be joining us back on campus. We are so honored to be a part of such a strong, empowered sisterhood.

In addition to that, we have managed to raise a whopping $2,896 for our suite so far! This means we have exceeded our initial goal of $2,500, and it is incredible that you all were able to raise that amount of money in such a short period of time. As a result, we are going to raise the goal to $4,000 since we still have 3 weeks left in our campaign. Thank you so much for your support and generosity!

We appreciate any and all contributions to our cause.

Love in Chi O!

Chi Omega Brings Home the Gold!

November 02, 2019

This semester, Chi Omega has participated in numerous Greek Life events supporting other sororities and fraternities as they raise money for their respective philanthropies. One of these events was Greek Olympiad, formerly known as IFC Field Day, that involved a series of outdoor activities. Our team of 5 sisters (Sydney Rinderknecht – Greek Week Chair, Krissy Weber – Former House Manager, Taylor Renninger – Director of Community Service, Ashley Lubisky – Panhellenic Delegate, and Lindy Brennan – Former Marketing Assistant) as pictured below placed first and brought home the gold. As a result, Chi Omega was awarded $100 towards our own philanthropy that we hold near and dear to our heart, Make-A-Wish.  But, we didn’t stop there! Two weeks later, our sisters won big again at PDM Kickball alongside members of Pi Kappa Phi. Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Beta Rho, and Kappa Alpha Psi are our Greek Sing partners this year. PDM stands for Pitt Dance Marathon and seeks to raise money yearly to raise funds and awareness for UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. For this, we were given 200 Greek Week points.

Being involved on campus is a great way to meet other members of Greek life, raise money for our own philanthropy, and have fun while doing so.

Sister Spotlight: Lexi Gihorski

October 25, 2019

Currently, one of our very own Chi Omega sisters, Lexi Gihorski, is the Panhellenic President for Fraternity and Sorority Life at Pitt.

From Lexi:

Being Panhel President has given me the incredible opportunity to represent both the Panhellenic community and my sisters in Chi Omega in a campus leadership position. My job as President is to oversee the daily operations of all Greek organizations while working to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all sorority women. It is definitely an undertaking, but it has heightened my appreciation for the wonderful women in chapter leadership positions who work tirelessly to ensure the success of their organizations every day.

As senior year progresses, I have Chi Omega to thank for so much: for instilling confidence in me, teaching me so much about myself, and being the best decision I made in my four years at Pitt. Chi O has afforded me so many opportunities, but a thank you will truly never be enough to all the women that have been the support system I’ve needed throughout my collegiate experience. I hope to make you all proud!

Suite Memories!

October 22, 2019

Hi Sisters,

Our home on campus has changed so much since the late 1960s (almost 50 years ago!) when we only had half a floor of what is now the Chi Omega suite. Nowadays recruitment practice, pre-initiation rituals, big/little reveal, sisterhood events, and so much more happens here every year. Beyond this, our current sisters can always be found studying in the dining room, lounging in the living room, baking cookies and other treats in the kitchen, and taking naps in between classes in the formal end. We hope you loved your time spent in chapter housing as much we do! LICO!
