The Robert S. Bomba Memorial Fund has been created by his family and friends to provide financial support for University of Pittsburgh students who aspire to attain educational goals similar to Rob's and who share his passion, drive, and ambition for helping others.

Bomba’s Ambition:

Rob Bomba dedicated his life to God, Country, and to Public Service.  After serving in the Army, he gave his time and talent as a volunteer firefighter with the Berkeley Hills Fire Company (Ross Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania).  He continued his dedication to public service by attending the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania Paramedic Program and then working for Parkview Emergency Medical Services, located in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County.  He also worked at the Allegheny County 911 Emergency Operations Center. 

In December 2015, Rob graduated, with Honors, from the Community College of Allegheny County with an Associates Degree.  His plan was to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at the University of Pittsburgh and attend Medical School. This would allow him to accomplish his ultimate goal of joining Doctors Without Borders to help those in need, in some of the most desperate areas of the world. Sadly, Rob passed away this past December before he was able to accomplish these goals.

Non-traditional students, especially those that must pay for their own education, face many hurdles on their road to a college degree.  Unfortunately, accessing financial resources that will allow them to attend college is typically a principle challenge.  The goal of the Robert S. Bomba Memorial Fund is to provide some relief to those students that are facing a challenging situation similar to Rob’s and who have similar aspirations.

How You Can Help:

Your generous donations to endow the Robert S. Bomba Memorial Fund will help provide financial assistance to non-traditional transfer students that seek to complete their undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh.  As Rob had dedicated his life and passion to helping others, those who also have been committed to public service or volunteering their time for others would be potential recipients for this endowment. 

The Robert S. Bomba Memorial Fund also endeavors to provide a lasting remembrance of our Friend and Brother, “Bomba”.
