Since 1988, the University of Pittsburgh Rowing Club has been dedicated to a tradition of strength, honor, power, and speed. Through the hard work of every rower throughout the team’s history, we have been able to establish ourselves as one of the top competitive club sports at Pitt, challenging various intercollegiate schools from all over the east coast.
Many of our competitors hold positions at their universities as varsity programs, meaning they receive funding from their school. Pitt Crew is unique because it is a club team, so we do not receive this type of financial support. The responsibility to meet race fee requirements, travel costs, and most importantly, equipment purchase and maintenance rests in the hands of team members and fundraising efforts.
An important part of our team is the maintenance and purchase of new equipment. As our team continues to grow in size throughout the years, we are finding ourselves in need of purchasing equipment almost every year. This year we realized that new oars are a necessary purchase for our team. With our rapidly growing size, we are asking for your support to help us purchase a new set of oars! These oars will be used 6 days a week for multiple practices, and would be an invaluable addition to our team.
Our goal for this project is to raise $3600, which is enough to cover the cost for some of the best oars on the market! Every rower on Pitt Crew is incredibly hard-working and proud to be a part of this team, and we would greatly appreciate any donation to go toward this purchase. If any excess funds from this campaign are raised, it will go towards general operational expenses such as raise entry fees and general equipment maintenance.
