The Campaign is Over But Nrityamala is Forever

June 07, 2021

We can’t begin to thank you all enough for your support for BFC in our EngagePitt campaign. As Nrityamala’s first charitable endeavor, we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome, and we know BFC deeply appreciates your donations. We also can’t express enough our gratitude for your support of Nrityamala. Although the campaign is over, Nrityamala is forever. The 15 years this team has existed wouldn’t have been possible without your help and we hope you will continue to support us. Our gratitude is immense, and we hope this note conveys at least a bit of that emotion.

With that, the 2020-21 Executive Board signs off and welcomes the 2021-22 E-Board:

Captains: Mansi Avunoori & Krishna Nayak

Business Managers: Stuthi Iyer & Yamini Yepuri

Senior Advisors: Jothika Gorur & Nithya Kasibhatla

Tomorrow is the Last Day

It's Not Over Yet!

May 24, 2021

We’ve met our goal and exceeded it by some, but we want to tell you that it’s not over yet! Our Engage Pitt campaign will be running for just under two more weeks and your support is crucial to providing patients at the Birmingham Free Clinic with the best care possible. Since this is our first year running a crowdfunding campaign through the Engage Pitt portal, we set an achievable goal for ourselves; however, we fully hope to continue fundraising till June 5th at 11:59 PM! Thank you again for your support and #hollahollanrityamala :)

Thank You!

May 17, 2021

Thank you to everyone who was able to tune into Nrityapriya yesterday and for your contributions! Our campaign will be open for three more weeks, so please encourage your family and friends to donate :)

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who made this event possible, including our wonderful team, Dhirana, SPIFPA, Mythri Sundar, Akash Ramalingam, and many others. It was so exciting and meaningful for us to finally share everything we’ve worked on this year!

Thank you to Avaaz, First Class Bhangra, and Mastana for being amazing Exhibition Acts and part of this effort. We truly enjoyed watching your performances!

If you weren’t able to tune in to the livestream, check out our brochure here: https://www.flipsnack.com/somyasthakur/nrityapriya.html and the event in the video below.

Thank you again!

SPIFPA Sponsorship & Livestream Info

May 12, 2021

Hello Everyone!

We are so grateful for your donations to BFC via our Engage Pitt campaign! And we are so excited to announce that we are now being sponsored by the Srinivasa Prasad International Foundation for Performing Arts, otherwise known as SPIFPA!

SPIFPA is dedicated to promoting South Asian Performing Arts among North American Youth. It has been the lead sponsor and offered great support annually in promoting the Dhirana program, starting from its early years. SPIFPA also sponsors the Traditionality Award to those Dhirana winning teams that present the highest level of classical content in their presentations. We are so grateful to them for their support and contributions toward our efforts!

With that, we now have our livestream link for the showcase! Please join us on May 15th at 6PM at: https://youtu.be/hM93IRy4yIA and continue to spread the word about the event :)

$25

Pushpanjali

Pushpanjali is the opening dance in a performance. It is a salutation to the lord of dance Nataraja, the Guru (dance teacher), the musicians, and the audience. This donation will be used to pay for routine lab testing at BFC to treat and manage disease.

$50

Jatiswaram

Jatiswaram is the next dance in a performance after Pushpanjali. It is a technical dance that showcases the form of Bharatnatyam, without any accompanying verses. This donation will be used to pay for smoking cessation medication for patients at BFC who need it.

$100

Keerthanam

Keerthanam is a piece that combines technique and expression in praise of a God. This donation will be used to pay for essential supplies like gloves, thermometer covers, tongue depressors, and exam table paper that are used in every patient visit to BFC.

$300

Varnam

Varnams are the centerpiece of an arangetram (Bharatnatyam debut recital). These dances are performed to the most complex pieces of Carnatic music. This donation will be used to pay any upgrades to the BFC facilities. Contribute $20 for every year Nrityamala has existed!
