The Falk School community is committed to ongoing professional development of faculty and staff members. The Falk School Faculty and Staff Professional Development Fund will provide resources to defray the costs of professional conferences, workshops and training, and other opportunities determined to provide direct benefit to faculty and staff members’ career at Falk.
What will this award mean to Falk School?
It is important for faculty and staff at any school stay updated on current trends and new developments in education and their respective fields, but we feel this is especially important to do at a progressive, laboratory school like Falk. Each day our faculty and staff encourage students to take risks, explore the far reaches of their imagination, ask questions and share ideas – we want to encourage them to do the same! The positive impact of continued professional development extends beyond the individual faculty and staff member to the classroom and student experience. 
Our goal is to raise $10,000 over the course of our campaign, which will run through June 30, 2021. Our ultimate goal is to raise enough to form an endowed fund, forever cementing the Falk School community’s commitment to faculty and staff professional development.
Fanny Edel Falk Laboratory School was founded in 1931 with the mission of being a progressive, experimental and demonstration elementary school, one steeped in diversity equity and justice. For 90 years, this mission has guided faculty and staff in what we believe, whom we serve, and what we do. 
A gift in this amount will cover the cost of a book for book club. Professional book clubs create a culture of conversation and idea sharing.
A gift in this amount will cover the cost of attendance for a professional development workshop through community organizations such as the Pittsburgh Opera or Carnegie Science Center.
A gift in this amount will cover the dues to join a professional organization such as the National Science Teacher Association. Professional organizations allow faculty and staff to connect with a community of their peers and access resources.
A gift in this amount will cover a flight for an out of town visit to a peer laboratory school. After a visit to a peer school, faculty and staff can integrate their experiences into their classrooms and work.
A gift in this amount can offset the cost of tuition for a class not offered by the University of Pittsburgh. Our faculty and staff are committed to a life-long learning philosophy!
A gift in this amount will cover an honorarium to host a speaker for all faculty and staff members at Falk School. Help us learn, grow and discover together!
