About Us
Thank you for taking the time to learn of the great voices of the Pitt-Greensburg Chorale. The Pitt-Greensburg Chorale is the university’s signature choral ensemble. As they sing together, they show what each can achieve as individuals, but also how much more we can do together, as an ensemble. This fall, we celebrate music of Spanish language and heritage, including works of José Maurício Nunes Garcia and Juan de Anchieta. We sing of the tango and the vito through the music of Astor Piazzolla and Joni Jensen. We complete our work with contemporary compositions of Faith Zimmer and Z. Randall Stroope, including his seminal Amor de mi Alma on the passionate text of Renaissance poet Garcilaso de la Vega - You are the Love of my Soul.
Our Project
This spring, we seek to take this music and more to New York. We hope to take our music to the city and its surrounding communities for three days in May: a concert in Sparta, New Jersey at its First Presbyterian Church, a day in the city (singing in Central Park is grand), plus an additional concert stop nearby. The cost of doing so, however, for bus and hotel, has risen considerably in the last two years. We are here to ask for your help in making possible this extraordinary opportunity. Chorale has toured successfully in past years, including to Philadelphia in 2013 and also to New York in 2018, making some of its most treasured performances happen and building great experiences and memories together.
To make this trip possible, the Chorale needs about $10,000. Thanks to our early fundraising efforts, we have raised about $3,500 so far. As you can see, we still have a big challenge ahead of us to meet our goal; we need your help. We seek your assistance to make this trip a reality. Every little bit helps. Donate $25 or more and as a token of our gratitude for your support, we will include your name in the tour program.
Donate $50 or more and you will receive a handwritten thank you note from the group.
With a donation of $75, we will be glad to send you a Pitt-Greensburg Chorale lanyard!
With a donation of $100, we will be happy to send you a Pitt-Greensburg Chorale t-shirt. A group member will be in touch regarding sizing upon completion of the campaign.
With a donation of $150, you will receive a Pitt-Greensburg Chorale hoodie. A group member will be in touch regarding sizing upon completion of the campaign.
Donors at this level will receive an invitation to a special pre-concert dinner on Pitt-Greensburg's campus, to take place before the April 2023 on-campus performances.
Donate at this level and Chorale will perform a song of your choice on our April program and on tour. Song to be chosen in consultation with the director.
