Nationality Council Centennial Award Fund

About the Fund

The Nationality Council Centennial Award Fund is established by the Nationality Council of the Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchanges Program (NRIEP) to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the founding in 1926 of the Nationality and Heritage Rooms which serve as cultural representations of ethnic communities in the Pittsburgh region.

The Nationality and Heritage Room Committees and the (NRIEP) provide financial support to Pitt students to undertake global learning experiences in the summer. Since the mid-1940’s through the summer of 2024, funding through the Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs has provided 4.5 million USD of support to over 1,700 University of Pittsburgh students for global learning experiences.

Most of the scholarships offered through the Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs are location specific. The Nationality Council Centennial Award Fund will provide support for University of Pittsburgh undergraduate and graduate student(s) to engage in global experiences and expands on the opportunities for students to study in any geographic location in the world, where travel is possible. Non-location specific opportunities will broaden access for more Pitt students to participate in global learning experiences.

How You Can Help

The Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Programs has offered scholarships since the mid-1940's - that's nearly 80 years - to support global learning experiences for Pitt students. Your support of the Nationality Council Centennial Award Fund will help provide opportunities for students from a broader range of academic backgrounds and in locations that expand upon the geographic opportunities now offered.

Please consider donating to help continue this legacy. Even if a donation is not possible at this time, sharing this page with your networks is an immediate way to support our cause. Thank you for your consideration.
