Meeting Students’ Basic Needs: Challenge and Opportunity
The University of Pittsburgh is committed to student success and meeting the basic needs of all students. Still, a portion of Pitt students struggle with food insecurity or with accessing affordable clothing and home goods. Last academic year, the Pitt Pantry served 1,177 households and distributed 71,534 pounds of food and hygiene items. And demand continues to grow.
The Pitt Pantry is a student service-based organization in the O’Hara Student Center where students, faculty and staff can access healthy foods. In addition to being free of charge, Pitt also provides nutrition and health consultation services. If you would like to support a different area of interest, please visit giveto.pitt.edu.
