Post-Campaign Update

October 03, 2016

Hi All!

Thank you so much for all your generous donations to our club's campaign last spring.  We so appreciated the support, and wanted to give you an update on what we have done since the campaign closed.

With the money we received from our generous donors, our club bought a Makey Makey Kit. Students from local middle schools were able to learn electrical engineering concepts with the help of the kit. The Makey Makey Kit ™ shows that a small circuit board can turn physical objects into buttons for your computer.  A small amount of electricity flows from the computer to the banana. To complete the circuit, the student in the picture holds a ground wireThis ground wire works as a return path for the electricity. The circular electric path is now complete and messages can be sent to play any video game such as PAC-MAN! The students were very intrigued by this technology and had a blast playing around with the cool features of the Makey Makey Kit.

We would not have been able to buy the kit without your help.  Thank you so much for helping us add this exciting and engaging new piece of technology to our workshops!

Many thanks,

The SEMFS Team

$15

Lemon-aid

When life gives you lemons...make clocks out of them! This donation will buy two lemon-clock kits so we can show kids how electrolysis works.

$25

Ice Ice Baby

It would be nICE to show kids how frozen CO2 reacts with water and air. This donation will buy a block of dry ice so we can do fun experiments like bubble potions, singing spoons, and balloon inflation.

$40

Child Clearance

The law is the law. Every club member needs a clearance to work with children. This donation allows one club member to help out at events for the entire school year.

$100

We conduit!

Don't resist! We always want to teach kids watt makes up our current technology. This donation will purchase one Arduino Circuit Kit so that we can spark more kids' interests in electrical engineering.

$150

Water those?!

It's a water-powered car! This donation will buy a hybrid fuel-cell RC toy car so we can teach kids how hydrogen atoms in water can be burned as fuel if they are separated from oxygen...the future of alternative energy!
