Thank You!

May 15, 2019

ESW would like to thank everyone who contributed to our EngagePitt campaign! Due to donations coming in past the final date of our campaign, we were able to raise a whopping $3,328, which exceeded our initial goal by over $2,000.

Without you, we would not have been able to make this amazing trip to El Paso. We had a fantastic time at the conference and we had the opportunity to meet students from across the country. It was amazing to see the projects that other chapters have been working so hard on, and to learn about sustainable design in an entirely different landscape.

We cannot wait to implement all of the new ideas that our trip has inspired in the fall, and we hope that you will follow us along the way and keep up with our progress. Follow us on twitter (@eswpitt) to keep up with new events and projects.

Almost there!

March 28, 2019

Thank you again to all of our donors and supporters throughout this campaign. We have had a blast promoting our campaign and gearing up for the conference. With only one week left until we all depart to El Paso, we are super excited! We have one final ESW member spotlight to share with you all before the conference, but we cannot wait to share our experience when we are back in Pittsburgh!

Hi, I'm Trent Greener!

I joined ESW this past year, and I have always been interested and inspired by the merits of sustainability. I am currently involved in the STORM project this year, and I have learned so much in the past few months just from being able to congregate with like-minded people aiming to make the world a better place. I am very excited to be able to continue this pursuit of knowledge and share ideas with the upcoming conference!

Thank you to all of our donors! Every contribution really does make a difference.

2 weeks to go!

March 20, 2019

Once again, we would like to thank everyone who has donated or shared our campaign. We still have almost two weeks left until the end of our campaign, and we are getting close to conference time! Here’s another ESW member spotlight from this year’s events chair.

Hi, I’m Stephanie Litwack! I joined ESW last year because I wanted a way to learn more about sustainability and work on projects that could make a difference on Pitt’s campus. I’m currently involved with STORM (Students Taking On Run-off Management) and I have really enjoyed the opportunities I’ve been able to collaborate with other students that are also passionate about sustainability. I’m really looking forward to learning about some of projects other ESW chapters are working on and meeting more amazing students. Thank you for donating to help fund this great learning opportunity!

3 more weeks!

March 11, 2019

ESW would like to thank everyone who has donated and contributed to our campaign in any way! We are thrilled to have already met our original goal of $1000 and would like to announce that we will be raising our goal to $2000 in order to offset more of our transportation costs. We also would like to leave you all with an ESW member spotlight from our co-president.

ESW Member Spotlight:

My name is Kareem Rabbat and I am a current co-president of our Pitt ESW chapter and a project leader on our STORM team. I joined ESW 2 years ago because I wanted an opportunity to simultaneously improve my community and get practical experience that I couldn't find in the classroom. ESW has gone far beyond my expectations from allowing me to participate in middle school educational events, explore the electrical engineering that goes into creating a solar panel circuit, and getting students engaged with projects.

I'm looking forward to so much at this year's conference at UT El Paso. For one I am excited to meet more passionate and likeminded individuals dedicated to sustainability. I am excited to hear about all the cutting edge research from top professors all across the country which really makes me hopeful when it comes to environmental news. Most importantly I am excited to learn as much as I can at the conference and bring what I learn back to Pitt so that I can teach our chapter's members and hopefully use the newfound knowledge in projects.

ESW Member Spotlight: Addie Jacobs

March 07, 2019

Before we go on spring break, we wanted to leave you with our first ESW member spotlight. Addie is one of our co-presidents for the 2018-2019 school year!

Hi, I’m Addie Jacobs. I am a senior environmental engineering. I joined ESW because I was interested in sustainability and wanted the chance to have hands-on experience, getting to build and positively impact the world. ESW has helped me to develop my leadership skills, especially this year, and I’ve learned so much about sustainability by being a part of this club. What I’m looking forward to most about the conference this year is the design challenge. Not only will we be finding a sustainable solution to a problem but we will have the chance to work with other students from different chapters of ESW from around the US, and even abroad. See below for a photo of me and Frankie the SuperFish at the ALCOSAN Open House.

Donating to ESW not only helps us go to conference but will enable ESW to continue to provide opportunities to make the world a more sustainable place.
