Nationals - Day 3

April 17, 2016

Hi everyone! Sorry for the late post - it has been a busy couple of  days. Our team has officially made it back to Pittsburgh after an amazing weekend full of tennis. Pitt ended up placing 28th out of 64 teams, and last night our very own club president Brian Rubin took home the award for the Tennis On Campus National Leader of the Year!! After watching an unbelievable final last night between UNC and Auburn (Auburn won in a super tiebreaker!), Brian was called onto the courts to be recognized for his amazing achievements this year. (See photo below of Brian and check out this awesome article - http://www.tennisoncampus.com/News/Pittsburgh_s_Rubin_named_TOC_National_Leader_of_the_Year.htm )

Our team is so grateful to you for helping us compete in the 2016 TOC National Championships. We had an amazing time playing and watching tennis, spending time with our teammates, and meeting other tennis teams from all over the country. There truly is no tennis tournament like it. Though this was our last tournament of the year, we cannot wait for the opportunity to return in the fall and compete to reclaim our title as USTA Middle States Section Champions!

Until then, this is Pitt Club Tennis signing off with one final thank you,

and one final HAIL TO PITT!

Nationals - Day 2!

April 16, 2016

Hello again! Day 2 has officially come to a close, and we meet this morning to play one final match. Yesterday morning we played Arizona State University. After many tiebreaks and a competitive mixed doubles set, the match came down to only a few points and the sun devils came out on top. As the sun came out, the panthers were ready to take on University of Houston. The match also came down to mixed, but this time we were able to pull out a victory. For the final match of the day, we met Northwestern University on the shady corner courts of the complex. This match proved to be the toughest, and again came down to just a matter of points. After some unbelievable singles matches, the Northwestern mixed doubles team was able to close out the match in their teams favor. Despite the loss, our whole team left the courts smiling. We are having an awesome time playing and watching such a high level of tennis. We are looking forward to ending the tournament on a good note today with our one final match this morning. We are also excited to meet all of the teams here tonight at a true southern barbecue hosted by Tennis On Campus. Later, we will all gather to watch the championship match. Last year it was an unbelievable match between Minnesota and UC Berkley. This year, a whole new set of teams is up for the championship, and we're excited to find out who will be playing. As always, thank you for your support and the opportunity to have this amazing experience. H2P!

Nationals - Day 1

April 15, 2016

Hello all! We have officially made it to North Carolina, and yesterday we played our first three matches! Yesterday morning we lost in a close match to the University of Virginia by only four games. However we bounced right back to beat Stony Brook University and University of Colorado, Boulder! Our team played very well yesterday, and although we did not qualify to win the Gold Bracket championship, we are looking to bring home the next best thing - the Silver Bracket trophy! We left the courts in high spirits and only slightly sunburned. We enjoyed a nice team meal at PDQ (we thought we deserved some milkshakes), and retired to the hotel for the night. We are excited for a brand new day and the chance to face a new set of opponents today! Thank you for all of your continued support! H2P

End of Campaign Update!

April 03, 2016

The amount of support that we have received from this campaign is truly incredible! We never expected to go over our goal and raise $4,000!  The team is so excited to represent Pitt at the USTA Tennis on Campus National Championships in two weeks.  We are bringing a full squad of people to the tournament and many of them will be able to experience the pinnacle of our program for the first time!  This would not have been possible if it wasn't for all of you!  We will be providing more updates and results as we get closer to the tournament.

Thanks again and Hail to Pitt!

THANK YOU!

March 26, 2016

We have reached our goal! Thank you all so much for your generous support. Our trip to nationals would not have been possible without you. We are so grateful to be given the opportunity to play at the highest competitive level of club tennis. As our campaign comes to a close, anyone else that still wants to donate can absolutely do so.  Any funds raised above our goal will go toward general season costs for the remainder of this year and next year. Be on the lookout for more news from us after the campaign ends. We will be sharing our experience at nationals as we compete, so you can follow and share in our successes. Again, from everyone on our team, thank you so much! Say it with us - HAIL TO PITT!
