Although their campaign has concluded, if you would still like to make a donation to support Pitt Club Equestrian, you may always do so here.
We’re the University of Pittsburgh Club Equestrian team! We are a team of riders of all different abilities that compete all throughout the Northeast in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). In both the fall and spring semesters, we go to horse shows where riders vie for individual points which then contribute to an overall team total. Our talented team has been incredibly successful at both the regional and national level, sending multiple riders to both competitions in the past three years, as well as in 2020.
As a non-varsity support, we get a limited amount of financial support from the university. Horses are notoriously expensive, and expenses which the team is responsible for include riding lessons, gear, show registration fees, transportation, and lodging for when we travel to compete against other schools. Therefore, we rely almost entirely on member dues and fundraising campaigns at the Oakland campus. However, due to a growth in team size (yay!), managing team expenses has gotten increasingly difficult. Therefore, we are looking for the support of our family and friends (you!) to help us raise money for our 2020 show season.
Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Anything that helps us get closer to our goal and helps us support our members so they can ride while in college counts! Outside of donations, there are many other ways that you can help PittEq. You can spread the word about our EngagePitt campaign by sharing the link to this page. You can also follow us on social media. We are on Instagram @pittequestrian. You can also find us on Facebook by searching ‘University of Pittsburgh Panther Equestrian Club.’ We post regularly and will be providing updates on our 2020 show season as well as on our fundraising campaign.
Thank you and H2P!
In the puddle jumper division, jumps are usually set at 2’6”.This contribution would help the team pay for over half of an entry fee for a class for one of our riders at an IHSA show. Thank you so much for your contribution!
In the amateur/owner division, riders should expect to soar over jumps that are up to 1.30m in height! This comes out to around 50 inches. A contribution of this size would cover one of our member's riding lessons, as well as transportation out to the barn. Thank you for your support!
In the pony jumper division, riders need to be prepared to pilot their ponies over fences that are set to at least 1.00m in height! A donation of this size would cover the cost of a new pair of show pants for one of our members. Thank you for your generous contribution!
In the Six Bar and Puissance divisions, professional show jumpers must guide their horses over jumps that can exceed 2 meters in height! Did you know that the world record for the highest jump cleared by a horse was set by Huaso and his rider, Alberto Larraguibel in 1949? Huaso and Alberto cleared a fence that was 2.49m! Help Pitt Eq soar to record setting heights. By making a contribution of this size, we would be able to buy a new pair of riding boots for one of our members. Thank you so much!
In this division, speed and accuracy are important, as there is only one round for riders and horses to showcase their stuff. If you knock down a rail, four seconds are added to your time, and whoever has the fastest time wins. Keeping all of this in mind, riders still need to be able to conquer jumps that are 1.500m in height or more! A contribution of this size would cover lodging and transportation to our regional competition. Thanks so much for your amazing support!
The Grand Prix is where the most talented riders and horses go head to head (and hoof to hoof). The most prestigious event of the show with the highest jumps requires great skill and attention to detail. A contribution of this size would pay for a weekend show that we must host every year, which involves expenses like travel, lodging, judge’s fees, training fees, and more! Thank you so much for your incredibly generous contribution!
