Thank you for visiting! This campaign has concluded, but you can continue to support The Slovak Heritage Festival here.
Dear Friends and Supporters of the Slovak Heritage Festival:
We are very pleased to report that the Slovak Heritage Festival was held remotely on November 1st, 2020. We are proud to report that the Festival was a great success!
The University of Pittsburgh, the only university in the United States and Canada to offer Slovak language and cultural studies, works with members of the local Slovak-American community to transmit Slovak traditions, culture, history, and language. Together they maintain continuity with the past while building a bridge between two modern societies on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
The Slovak Heritage Festival 2020 was yet another successful celebration of traditional Slovak customs and culture. In years to come, it can expose participants to Slovak advances in and contributions to contemporary arts and sciences. After all, Slovakia, like the U.S., has a living, breathing culture.
The Festival has been viewed on YouTube by over 2000 people and on Facebook by over 4500 people.
Participation was robust and the programming included folk music and dancing, as well as stimulating lectures and films about Slovak history, language, culture, and genealogy.
