The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing strives to create the best nurses they can through rigorous coursework, numerous clinical hours, and many opportunities for students. The Pitt Nursing Student Association (NSA) has always facilitated unique experiences for students and has attended the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) Convention for the past 10 years. The chance to attend a NSNA convention is the ultimate opportunity for professional development. Students at this event have the chance to network with recruiters for future employers on a one-on-one basis, attend numerous workshops showcasing all that nursing has to offer, and delve deeper into the nursing profession in general. It is the chance of a lifetime! Students who have traveled to this event have described it as one of the best experiences they have had in nursing school!
This year, the NSNA’s 71st convention will be held in Nashville, TN from April 12-16! Like most events in the past few years, NSNA was canceled in 2019, and online in 2020. As such, our current seniors have only had one opportunity to attend this incredible convention in person. At the last convention in April 2022, Pennsylvania had the second-largest representation for the house of delegates in the nation. We were able to vote on resolutions at the national level, and even had one of our own resolutions pass at the national level. Additionally, one of our very own members of Pitt NSA ran and was elected to serve on the national board as editor of a national newsletter.
We were able to send 14 students to the national convention last year and would love the opportunity to send more students this year. Student registration has risen to $70 this year and does not include travel expenses, lodging, or meals. Donors like you can help send students to this amazing experience!
This being our first year working with the EngagePitt campaign, we have set our goal to raise $5,000 to fund students to attend the NSNA convention. Any amount raised over our goal will support Pitt NSA's future convention endeavors. We appreciate any and all support you can provide! Thank you for reading this note, and H2P Nursing!!
