We need your help again!

November 05, 2019

Hello Friends, Family, and Alumni of the Glee Club,

Thank you so much for your dedicated support of the Glee Club over the years. Your contributions have greatly helped support our sound in the past, and we are looking for help once again. This spring, the Pitt Men’s Glee Club will be headed to Northern Italy, Austria, and Slovenia to accept our invitations to multiple international music festivals. In order to provide financial support for as many of our members as possible, we have launched a new EngagePitt campaign

It’s because of generous donors like you that Pitt Men’s Glee Club has stood the test of time and provided countless opportunities for Pitt students over the past 129 years. We are currently in the final stretch of our 2020 International Tour campaign, and we would sincerely appreciate your support. Please help us once again to continue our Glee Club tradition of impressing incredible European choirs.

Thank you, and H2P!

Urgent Message: Pitt Day of Giving!

February 28, 2017

As part of the 230th birthday of the University of Pittsburgh, the Pitt Day of Giving is happening NOW, and the Pitt Men’s Glee Club has enrolled in this program! Each student organization who receives money through http://www.dayofgiving.pitt.edu will compete to see who receives the highest number of gifts. Organizations who receive the highest number of gifts will receive more funding for their program!

We are currently ranked SECOND in the Student Organization challenge and we are set to win $2,500 in bonus funds.  With your help, we can move to FIRST place and win $5,000! Give now at http://dayofgiving.pitt.edu!

Thank you so much for your donations to our 2015 tour.  We were blown away by your support and generosity towards our past campaign, and we would absolutely appreciate if you or your network would be able to support us today. Thank you, and Hail to Pitt!!

Round Two!

January 25, 2017

Hello, donors and friends of the Pitt Men’s Glee Club!

We appreciate the support you showed us in 2015 more than words can describe. With your help, we were able to reduce the cost of our 125th anniversary tour to Italy, where we traveled from Naples to Venice, stopping along the way in Rome, Bologna, Assisi, Verona, Florence, and several smaller towns in the Italian countryside (see below for some pictures from this tour). Together, you helped us to raise over $10,000 to support the trip, the highest amount raised by any student group in EngagePitt history at the time.

Thanks to tours like the one you helped to fund, our international reputation has been expanding rapidly in recent years. As a result, we are proud to announce that PMGC will be embarking on a tour to Belgium and the Netherlands in October 2017. Our premiere concert on this tour will be in Flanders Fields, Belgium, where we will be performing at a World War I 100 Year Memorial event. Our choir has been personally invited by the Belgian government to perform at this event, and we will be one of three choirs in the world attending, as well as the only American choir

We need your support more than ever to help the Glee Club rise to the occasion and ensure that every member of PMGC is able to join us for this trip of a lifetime.  We have just launched a new EngagePitt campaign to help us cover the costs of this amazing new opportunity.  Click here to check out our campaign page, watch our new video, and introduce yourself to the 2017 members of PMGC!  While you’re at it, we would love it if you would click the GIVE NOW button and support us again this year.

We are thankful every day for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible organization as we continue to do our best to make the Pitt community proud.  We thank you for the part you play in allowing us to have these valuable experiences. Please consider donating today!

Thank you and H2P!

Starting off Strong!

February 11, 2015

We at the Pitt Men's Glee Club want to start off by extending our sincerest thanks to everyone who has donated so far! We've already reached 1/3 of our goal within four days of going live.

With the help of your generous donations, we're well on our way to covering all fees related to paying for our 125th Anniversary commissioned work from acclaimed composer Dr. Rosephanye Powell.

Here's a little bit of information about the piece from our director, Richard Teaster:

"The piece is based on the Robert Louis Stevenson text 'Bright is the Ring of Words,' which is a poem about how poetry and music and live on long after their authors and performers are gone. Dr. Powell has set it in a style that harkens back to some of the fight songs we perform, such as 'Hail to Pitt,' but there are also some more modern sections. The contemporary harmonies in these parts are reminiscent of the stylings of, say, Duke Ellington. It's a really fitting piece for our 125th Anniversary."

Your support means the world to us, and we hope that you all will enjoy hearing this piece when we premiere it live at our 125th Anniversary Concert!

As we say at the onset of all major Glee Club endeavors: we gon' make it!

-Anthony Verardi, President

Exceeding All Expectations!

February 17, 2015

Over 75% funded!

The members of the Pitt Men's Glee Club and I are absolutely floored by the generosity that you all have shown over the last two weeks since we started accepting donations! This is, to say the least, more than we could have hoped for. With 50 days left until the end of our fundaiser, we're extremely optimistic that we can meet and exceed our goal with your help. Again, thank you for your donations, and for your help in spreading the word to friends, family, and colleagues.

Since the last update on February 11th, we've raised nearly $3,000 more in donations, putting us well into a place where we can not only cover the price of our commissioned 125th Anniversary work, but also take a strong step forward towards paying for a high-quality CD recording of our concert! In the meantime, please enjoy this video of the song "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair," arranged by our director, Richard Teaster, at one of the last concerts that the PMGC performed in Italy at the University of Bologna in 2010. The group is looking forward to performing this song again for the same performance series, and for all of you at our 125th Anniversary Concert in March.

Once more, thank you all, sincerely.

-Anthony Verardi, President

"Keep lifting and sustain that note!"

February 25, 2015

As of yesterday, we have successfully reached our fundraising goal of $6,000 towards our trip to Italy! We cannot thank you—our friends, family, and alumni—enough for all of your  generosity and support.

In light of absolutely exceeding all expectations with over a month left, we've decided to stretch the goal of our fundraiser to $8,000. Any additional funding received will go towards covering a live radio broadcast of our 125th Anniversary Concert ($1,500) and continuining to underwrite the costs of a high-quality CD recording of the concert and our commemorative commissioned work, as well as bus transportation between Washington and Pittsburgh.

Also, please note that because of the time it takes to put together a program, we have set a date after which donors names can no longer feasibly be included in our program. The cutoff for having your name included in our program is Saturday, March 14th (two weeks prior to our concert). Anyone who has already donated at at least the $25 Whole-Step level is set to be included.

Again, with the utmost sincerity, thank you all. It makes a world of difference to everyone in the Glee Club to know that we can count on all of you when nobody else will reach out a hand to help us.

Sincerely,

Anthony Verardi, President
