Men's Club Lacrosse at Pitt 2023-2024

Our Team

The Pitt Panthers Men's Lacrosse team is coming into the 2023-2024 season with some fire in their eyes. The team has a very strong incoming class of 15 rookies who will make major contributions to the team this year and in the future. The 2023-2024 season looks bright for the Panthers as they look to head back to the ALC playoffs. 

The return of the team's head coach, Michael Eck, offensive coordinator, Zach Romac, and defensive coordinator, Tyler Tracy, continues to help the team as all three are Pitt alumni. This is a tight-knit group of guys who work hard and continue to promote the game of lacrosse in a positive way. The 2023-2024 fall slate will include a scrimmage with Canada's Hill Academy in the middle of October.

Our Project

Being a part of the MCLA and the ALC conference is a very expensive endeavor. We play anywhere from 12-18 games each spring, about half of which require us to take long road trips. Being a club sports team, we do not receive athletic funding from the University of Pittsburgh, and therefore need to cover most of the costs that come with competing in this league. Some of these costs include field time, shot clocks, apparel, equipment, buses and hotel rooms for away games, and many more. 

Without the support of our loyal fanbase and Pitt community, we are incapable of covering the costs listed above on our own. We sincerely appreciate any donation that you are willing to give, which will go towards any of the costs detailed, or if we surpass our goal, to general operating expenses. 100% of the donations received through this platform go to our team and all donations are tax deductible, with you receiving a tax receipt from Pitt via email upon donation submission. Even if you are unable to donate at this time, sharing our fundraising page with your networks is an immediate way to show your support. 

Where Your Donation Goes

1. Regular season road trips (Tennessee, Virginia, Indiana, Philadelphia)

• Our regular season will include at least three road trips, which include a trip to Tennessee on February 9-11 to play the University of Tennessee and East Carolina University, a trip to Virginia to play Liberty University and North Carolina State University, a trip to Indiana to play Purdue University and Iowa State University March 22-23, and a trip to Philadelphia to play Temple University and the University of Connecticut. 
• Costs for these trips combined will be $25,000 for the buses, hotels, food, etc. 

2. ALC Conference Tournament (Location and dates TBD)

• One of our goals as a team is to return to the ALC conference tournament this year after making it to the semi-finals last year. This tournament will likely take place in late April in Lynchburg, Virginia. 
• Costs for this road trip will be $9,000 which accounts for a bus, 1-2 nights in a hotel, food, etc. 

3. MCLA National Championship (Round Rock, Texas; Dates TBD)

• Another goal of ours is to compete for a national championship. This event consists of the best 16 teams in the country and is a single-elimination tournament. 
• Costs TBD. However, the costs we would have to cover include round trip plane tickets for about 35 players and coaches, ground transportation in Round Rock, 3-5 nights in a hotel, food, etc.
