Pitt Men's Water Polo

Although their campaign has concluded, if you would still like to make a donation to support Pitt Men's Club Water Polo, you may always do so here.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Who are we?

Pitt Men's Club Water Polo is a team of 16 undergraduate and graduate students. Many of us didn't begin playing water polo until we joined the team here at Pitt.

Throughout the past few years, our team has improved tremendously. The 2016 season marked our best finish in team history, as we finished third in the Mid Atlantic A Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).

Our team is coached by former player Joey Weiland, who graduated from Pitt Law School in 2016. Joey's knowledge and love for the game has helped us take giant strides in the pool.

Our Project:

CWPA leagues dues are very expensive, especially for a small team like ours with high travel expenses. Dues have changed from just over $1000 to $2700 in one season. With our small roster, we are struggling to make ends meet. Our main goal for this campaign is to raise enough to cover our dues payment.

In addition to league dues, many of our caps are in bad shape. Water Polo caps are worn to protect players from various ear and head injuries. A handful of our caps have broken straps or broken ear protectors. Without caps protecting us in a contact sport such as water polo, we could be unsafe in future tournaments and practices. One cap costs $36 and we'd like to be able to purchase both an away and home cap set for our team to use in practice and tournaments.

A final cost incurred by Pitt Men's Water Polo is travel expenses. We travel up to 5 hours away for tournaments, and have to pay for housing when we travel, and hotel rooms for 16 guys is expensive. Any funds raised past the amount needed for our dues and new game caps will be allocated towards tournament expenses and other general season costs.

What can you do to help?

There are plenty of ways you can support Pitt Men's Water Polo! Donations, sharing our link, spreading the word, and cheering us on as we go into our last tournament this season and as we head into the fall season are just a few of the ways you can help out. If you want to know anything else about Pitt Polo or EngagePitt, email our president Steven DeWitt, at steven.dewitt@pitt.edu.

How donating through EngagePitt works: Every donation is tax deductible (you will receive a receipt) and 100% of the proceeds go directly to Pitt polo. You can donate using one of the pre-determined levels, or choose your own amount.

We look forward to interacting with you and keeping you up to date as the season and our campaign progress!

Thank you for your support and H2P!
