Archery Collegiate Nationals

Our Team:

Our Pitt Archery team formed as a USA Archery Collegiate Program in January 2017. Since then, we have introduced hundreds of Pitt students to the sport we love and earned 4 All-American and All-American Academic titles in 2017, 2018, and 2019. We are passionate about providing a welcoming environment for archers of all skill levels to achieve their goals, whether that includes learning how to shoot an arrow for the first time or competing for a national medal. We are proud and thankful to have the support of our Coach Eric Burkett, a current member of the U.S. Para Archery Team!

Our Project:

We are a student-run and self-funded club here at Pitt. Due to this, we pay out of pocket for nearly all costs and receive very little funding from the University. We are a part of the USA Archery Collegiate Archery Program, along with around one hundred other programs. We even compete against Varsity-level, University recognized programs that receive full funding, and transportation and lodging for away tournaments.

As you can imagine, funding ourselves completely while traveling and competing with Varsity-level clubs gets very expensive. We rely on dues and fundraisers to cover expenses such as tournament registration, transportation, and lodging costs. As our club continues to grow and be successful, expenses increase, and there is a greater need for financial support from outside sources.

Our main competitions include the U.S. Indoor National Championships and National Outdoor Collegiate Championships. This year, the 2020 National Outdoor Collegiate Championships will be held at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (formerly the U.S. Olympic Training Center), in Chula Vista, California. We are excited for this opportunity to compete at a world-class archery training center, but of course this journey will be costly.

How You Can Help:

We are asking you today to donate in order to help:

  • Offset out-of-pocket costs for plane flights to California for Nationals
  • Offset costs of rental vans once we arrive in California
  • Pay registration and coach pass fees to compete in the National Championships
  • Offset costs of lodging for our team during the four day long tournament

Thank you again for your time and generous support! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at pittarchery@gmail.com. You can also follow our archers’ progress and achievements throughout the season on Facebook or Instagram @PittArchery!

Sincerely,

The Pitt Archery Team
