This project has now concluded. Thank you for supporting the Pitt Climbing Team!
The team wants to give you a final thank you. Over the course of this EngagePitt campaign, we raised over $2,000! This is all because of generous individuals such as yourself.
We are on our track to making the upcoming semesters even more exciting with the hopeful return to in-person practices, events, and competitions.
So, stay tuned on our social media pages to continue following our team and watching us climb to new heights!

THANK YOU!

In conjunction with the closing of the Spring 2021 semester, our EngagePitt campaign is also coming to an end :( Believe it or not, we have only one week left! So far, all of the supporters (including you!) have helped us reach almost 50% of our goal. THIS IS AMAZING! The team is truly appreciative of any ounce of support that is offered to us. We still want to push towards 100% completion of our $3,500 goal within our final week. Help us reach that goal! Talk to friends, family, and anyone who likes rocks. Spread the word.
To alleviate the stress of upcoming finals, some team members have turned to the outdoors (as most climbers do) to release any pent up emotions.
Board elections are almost complete, so stay tuned for those results!
As another semester of online college is almost finished, the team is hoping next semester will be jam packed with exciting new events, in-person competitions and practices, and lots of hugs!
Less than two weeks left in our EngagePitt campaign! Donations of any size will be welcomed with open arms!
Due to the Elevated Risk status and shelter-in-place order that Pitt is currently undergoing, the Climbing Team no longer will be able to do our weekly meet-ups at Trees Hall (where the Pitt climbing wall is located). Of course this is sad news to hear, as we love to see everyone for a couple hours a week and destress from the semester. Although, we plan on continuing to train individually. With the warm weather, expect to see lots of outdoor climbing trips!
Some exciting news to share is about the Pitt Climbing Team elections for the upcoming semester. The nomination form has been sent to interested members of the team to gauge interest in the position of President, Vice President, Business Manager, Fundraising Chair, Social Chair, RCC Chairperson, and so on. Follow our instagram (@pitt_climbingteam) and Facebook page (Pitt Climbing Team) to see the final results in a couple of weeks!
We will do our best to keep sharing updates about the team until the very end of the semester.
THANK YOU!
Our page has been live for a week, and we have already raised over $1,300! With four more weeks remaining, the team is very confident in reaching our $3,500 goal. That means we still need donors like you to spread the word about our fundraising campaign. Any amount donated puts a smile on our climbers' faces. The Climbing Team has a lot in store for the future, but we need your help.
A little update on team shenanigans: on Pitt’s wellness day this past Wednesday, a small group of us headed over to a local crag to enjoy the weather and send some climbs. We were able to use our new gear (rope, helmets, grigri, harnesses, etc.) that was allocated by the team. This ensured everyone had the essential equipment to safely climb outdoors. This is only one example of how the team was able to use our funds.
As of Saturday, we completed our STEEL CITY CLIMBING TOUR. For the past couple of weekends, the team purchased day passes to those interested in climbing at Ascend, Iron City Boulders, and the Climbing Wall. All amazing and different gyms to get our climbers exploring available indoor places to climb in the Pittsburgh area.
The team wants to thank all those who donated this past week! We are excited to see the number continue to ~climb~ until we reach our goal.
Chalk is used while climbing to keep our hands dry so we're able to grip holds better.
A ATC belay device allows climbers to climb tall walls safely by keeping the slack out of their rope.
USA climbing is our sports governing body. Your $55 gift supports the cost of a collegiate membership, which is needed to compete in regionals and nationals.
Climbing shoes are different than regular shoes because the rubber helps us to grip onto the walls.
Each of our members are asked to pay $160/semester for membership to our practice facility, Ascend Pittsburgh.
Your gift of $450 will support the cost to register 10 team members for a local competition!
Your donation will FULLY fund the cost of a local competition (registration, travel, lodging, etc.) for 10 team members!
