Campaign Update

We're so excited that we've reached our campaign goal so quickly!  We can now buy all of the jerseys for the Pitt Rugby 15's team.  Since we have 45 days left, we'd like to increase our goal to $4000 to cover the costs of 12 jerseys for our sevens rugby team.  Thank you again to everyone who has donated!

The Men's Rugby Club at the University of Pittsburgh is raising support to purchase a new rugby kit for the team as well as a new kit the Pitt Rugby 7's team. Our updated goal is to raise $4000 for a new set of 22 jerseys for the 15's team and a set of 12 jerseys for the 7's team, This covers the cost of printing, branding and shipping.

Who We Are

Founded in 1981, the University of Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club has been dedicated to the tradition of hard work, competition and camaraderie. Through the industry and dedication of every player that has passed through this program, the PRFC has established itself as the premier collegiate rugby team in southwestern Pennsylvania and continues to hold close ties with several men’s club throughout the city.

One of the important aspects of the club is its alumni base. Even after their years playing for the university, they continue to help guide, teach and inspire the new generation of PRFC. Alumni consistently come out to practice in their free time, and invite the club to join them in the offseason. The annual alumni game is a treasured tradition that allows young and old players to come together for a day of rugby and fun. 

The Current Team

In recent years, the club has bolstered its numbers to over 50 undergraduate students and fields a strong team that competes in both fall and spring seasons. In 2012, the team joined the Keystone Rugby Conference, and in its first season conquered the competition in a 12 game streak that would win them the KRC crown and send them to nationals. This past year alone, the team held a conference record of 2-1 in their reglar season and was represented in several tournaments including the USA sevens Rugby tournament in Las Vegas and Nashbash.

Our project

Unlike many other collegiate teams, Pitt Rugby is considered a club sport and therefore receives limited assistance from the University. As a result, we raise much of the club budget ourselves, including field and tournament fees, travel costs, and the maintenance of our team equipment.  

One of the aspects of maintaining the team is purchasing new equipment. With a growing team like ours, the game jerseys see a lot of use, being worn in both A-side and B-side games. As a result, we are campaigning to acquire a brand new kit of rugby jerseys for the whole team. Our goal for this project is to raise $2500, which will be used to purchase 22 premium rugby jerseys, and we need your support to do so.

$100 ~ pays for the price of logos and shipping

We're already successful on the field.  Help us be successful in our crowdfunding campaign.  All donations, regardless of the amount, will help our team get the new jerseys we need to continue as a dedicated rugby team.
