Thank you all for a successful Symposium!!

September 28, 2015

Hello Everyone,

We are happy to announce the success of the inaugural National Security Symposium! Thanks to all of your support, we successfully hosted this first ever, student-led, student-organized event. It was an exciting day filled with energized and engaging conversation.

Students, faculty, alumni, and locals gathered to hear Marjorie Cohn and Dan Simpson speak on a range of issues from the use of drones, perceptions of the United States internationally,  and the role of diplomacy to the role of religion in politics and depictions of the Middle East. Questions from all sides were encouraged and discourse ensued. Cohn and Simpson provided expert knowledge and experience on the topics and a general theme of challenging our own thoughts and existing perspectives emerged.

Our attendees were thrilled with the event and eager to continue the discussion. Thanks to all of our donors and this crowdfunding platform for making this idea into a reality- we could not have done it without all of your support!!

Look out for the video from the event on our social media pages and best of luck in all of our supporters' future endeavors,

The National Security Symposium Student Organizing Committee

Final Stretch!!

September 14, 2015

Hey all!!

We are in the final stretch of our crowdfunding campaign for the NSS 2015! All of your support has been invaluable to the success of this event. We are 48% funded on our campaign and continuing to work to meet our goal by the end of this weekend but we need your help!

We are incredibly grateful for our existing support. If you have already donated, please continue to assist our fundraising efforts by passing our crowdfunding campaign on to your friends, family, fellow students, and any other interested parties.

If you haven't donated to the crowdfunding campaign yet, please consider supporting this student-led initiative! Even the smallest donation will help!

We are happy to announce that all the details for the event are finalized. We have some excellent expert speakers and student panelists lined up and they are sure to make this a stimulating and engaging discussion.

Keep an eye out on our website and Facebook this week as we will be able to announce our expert speakers and student panelists in the upcoming days!

Additionally, we are working with faculty and staff at GSPIA to ensure that the conversation continues after the event. We are thrilled to make platforms for these kind of discussions a regular part of the offerings at our school and look forward to keeping the discussion going.

Thank you all for your continued support!

If you haven't already done so, be sure to register for the event HERE.

Best,

Maggie

One Month Away- 26% Funded and Counting!

August 24, 2015

Hello Everyone,

First of all- Thank you to all of our supporters who have so generously contributed to our crowdfunding campaign! All of your financial support plays a critical role in making the symposium a reality and a success. We cannot do it without you and all of your contributions highlight the peer-engagement quality and community aspect we hope to emphasize by creating this open platform.

This week we saw a huge influx of support with a large financial gift and a number of small scale donations. This foundational support has allowed us to pursue additional funding opportunities through now being able to show the support of our friends, family, and peers to the public.

We are now ONE MONTH away from the symposium and working non-stop to finalize the details and secure funding for all of the costs. We want to take this strong momentum all the way to the finish line. We are doing so by meeting daily to check off all of the "to-do's" on our strategic plan. We are continuing to reach out to our peers and get the word out about the event as well.

If you haven't already done so, be sure to register for the Symposium on our EventBrite page HERE.  Please continue spreading the word to your friends and anyone who might be interested- its going to be an incredible and unprecedented event at Pitt that is not to be missed!

Thank you again for all of your support and be sure to check back for updates on the campaign.

Sincerely,

The NSS Team
