About Us:
Pitt Dance Marathon (PDM) was founded in 2005 as a part of Greek week at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2015 PDM became a part of the Miracle Network Dance Marathon movement and is now the largest student run philanthropy at the university. Since then, PDM has raised over $600,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
Pitt Dance Marathon is a yearlong philanthropic effort with the primary goal of raising funds and awareness for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. PDM connects the campus to the community in stewardship and service, and in 2017 alone there were over 1,500 participants from 50 student groups on campus.
Throughout the year PDM hosts a variety of events. In the past, these have included a pancake breakfast, a DJ-off, cookie decorating contests and our annual Children’s Fashion Show. The end of the school year culminates in April at our 16-hour dance marathon where the PDM community gathers for our final fundraising total reveal and celebration of our Miracle Families and all the hard work everyone put in For the Kids!
Our Project:
Last school year we made great strides- both within our organization and in our external efforts to raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. This year we are excited to move forward, but we need to obtain more funding in order to become a sustainable yearlong movement.
Currently all the funding we receive from the University must go towards our actual dance marathon itself and all of our other events and incentives are funded from dues from our members- and that’s not enough if we want to keep growing. Please consider making a gift to support Pitt Dance Marathon’s operating budget.

Our accomplishments would not be possible without the support of our donors. We’ve come a long way since PDM was first established in 2005- but we have a long way to go when it comes to being able provide families with special services at the hospital that insurance doesn’t cover.

From college students to elementary school kids, everyone loves stickers. Your $35 gift will purchase all of the stickers that PDM needs for the year, making certain that our new logo is well known across campus.
Have you ever seen us out on the streets- canning rain or shine? A $50 gift will ensure that we can print and laminate new canning signs (and purchase swanky new cans!) that will both educate the public about our cause and withstand the Pittsburgh winter!
With the decline of snail mail in recent years, it’s a sweet treat to get a personal note delivered to your front door. With your gift of $100, you will pay for all of our donor thank you cards and incentives- we couldn’t do it without you!
Studies are showing Snapchat as the social media of choice for young people now-a-days- a gift of $250 ensures that our Snapchat game remains strong and we can get that far reaching filter coverage for all our important events.
In an effort to make PDM more of a year-long effort, we’ve got a few more special events on the table for this year! $500 ensures that we can successfully put on all of the new events (as well as continue our tried and true ones), to raise more funds and awareness for the kids!
The show must go on! Your gift of $1,000 will ensure that our annual Children’s Fashion show is able to continue this year by helping pay for a venue and even potentially being able to pay for a new outfit for our kiddos to wear on stage!
