Although their campaign has concluded, if you would still like to make a donation to support Club Rock Climbing, you may always do so here.
Our 2021 EngagePitt Campiagn is live at https://engage.pitt.edu/climbing21!
We had incredible success in our last EngagePitt campaign in 2019, and we would love to see 100% goal completion again in our 2021 EngagePitt campaign. I understand that is a big task to ask seeing that we have less than a week left, but I believe that with the support from family, friends, alumni, and lovers of rock climbing like you, that this is possible.
Your donations will help prepare the climbing team for the upcoming semester. A large portion of our funds that we bring in are directed towards paying for and offsetting any costs of the competitions, so that our team members can attend them for free. Competitions are a fantastic outlet for the team to grow as a family as well as gain actual in-person competitive rock climbing experience. We truly miss cheering on one another. The competitive atmosphere pushes our limits and forces us to continually achieve greater heights. Your donation will help put back those smiles on our faces.
Aside from competitions, allocated team funds were used to buy climbing gear, (helmets, harnesses, grigri, ropes and so on) so that regardless of how much equipment any one individual has, anyone can enjoy the multiple different divisions of rock climbing (outdoor, toprope, lead belay, etc.).
Preparations for the fall are already underway! We are crossing our fingers for a return to in-person practices and competitions. Regardless, we have training plans, board elections, outdoor trips, and so much more in the works.
With all this being said, we ask that you make a donation to The Climbing Team at https://engage.pitt.edu/climbing21. Donations of any size will help us in our climb to the top!
THANK YOU
Our EngagePitt campaign has been a long climb. First, starting in October and surpassing our initial goal of $3500 within the short timespan of a week. This forced our hands to double our goal. The team was worried this would be too high of an amount to raise, but our families, friends, and fellow climbing community members were able to ease the butterflies in our stomachs. The reason for this is because at the end of November we successfully reached $7000!!!
THANK YOU!!
It is impossible to grasp how appreciative and grateful the team is towards your support. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will be used to make the Pitt Club Rock Climbing Team send the highest mountains, achieve further successes, and grow into a home for passionate rock climbers.
THANK YOU!!!
With our campaign officially closed and a grand total of $7001, the team is ready for another sendy Spring semester. If you would like to continue watching us climb, compete, and goof off, stay tuned on our instagram (@pitt_climbingteam).
THANK YOU :)
At this point in the climb, the muscles in your arms and legs are feeling tired. The tips of your toes balance on the edge an instant away from slipping. You manage to scrape up any remaining chalk on your hands to complete the next move. With eyes locked upwards, you jump to the finish, and then…
We are this close to reaching our goal of $7000. This final amount is within reach but the team still needs your help. We would also like to take the time to acknowledge everyone that has gotten us this far. The amount of money we have raised was more than any one of us could have predicted. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
The team is excited for the many Thanksgiving break adventures we all have planned. Backpacking and outdoor climbing trips, hanging out with friends and family, and of course eating a whole feast followed by a food induced coma (aka nap). Stay tuned for an after break post about the shenanigans we got up to (@pitt_climbingteam)
It is the TIME OF GIVING! If you would like to share any amount of love and donate to our team, we will be an even happier bunch of climbers.
Have a ~(turkey)-rific~ Thanksgiving ~stuffed~ with fun!
THANK YOU :)
Our campaign has been live for about 3 weeks now. We are amazed by our success thus far, and we could not have done it without each of our absolutely incredible donors. We are so grateful for all the friends, family members, and fellow climbers who have supported us in our mission to support our team. If you are one of those people and you are reading this: we want to personally thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
A quick team update: we recently had new uniform shirts printed, which we were able to accomplish by getting our team's logo printed on shirts from the thrift store! We did our best to create new gear in a sustainable manner, and we are proud of what we were able to accomplish. As you can see from our photos, we absolutely love our new shirts. Be sure to follow us on Instagram @pitt_climbingteam for more frequent updates on our team (and lots of cool climbing photos!)
It's not too late to donate - we are getting so so close to our new goal, and it would be absolutely incredible if you could help us meet it.
We cannot tell you how in awe we are of your generosity and support - it means the world to our team. We love you all!
AMAZING! SPECTACULAR! UNBELIEVABLE! INCREDIBLE! EXHILARATING!
Our campaign has been live for just one week, and we have already surpassed our goal!! The team is blown away at the amount of support we have received from family, friends, and some friendly climber pals. The team would like to personally thank everybody that donated. Words cannot express the happiness radiating from every single member of this group. Seeing the total contributions ~climb~ puts a smile on all of our faces. The possibilities for our future as a club sports team is reaching new heights.
In recent news, the location of Nationals has been released. They will take place in...(drum roll)...COLORADO! The team is super excited about this, but it also means the cost to travel to and attend Nationals will break our budget. We want to keep pushing our limits further. Therefore, we are RAISING OUR GOAL TO $7000 ! This is ambitious, but we believe this will become a possibility based on the support you all have shown .
There is still time to donate! Please keep showing your support and sharing our campaign, so we as a team can keep doing what we love with the people we love!
Have a ~spooktacular~ Halloween!
THANK YOU :)
Chalk is used while climbing to keep our hands dry so we're able to grip holds better.
An ATC belay device allows climbers to climb tall walls safely by keeping the slack out of their rope.
USA Climbing is our sport's governing body. Your $60 gift supports the cost of a collegiate membership, which is needed to compete in Regionals and Nationals.
Climbing shoes are different than regular shoes because the rubber helps us to grip onto the walls.
Each of our members are asked to pay $160/semester for membership to our practice facility, Ascend Pittsburgh.
Your gift of $450 will support the cost to register 10 team members for a local competition!
Your donation will FULLY fund the cost of a local competition (registration, travel, lodging, etc.) for 10 team members!
